AAWGT Creates "Sharing our Vision"
Grantee Photography Project with Vision Workshops
VisionWorkshops is an Annapolis-based organization whose mission is to provide educational, life-changing experiences for youth, using the tools of photojournalism. The goal of this collaborative project is two-fold: to inspire youth with opportunities to see themselves and their communities in a new light, thereby building self-esteem and confidence; and to increase awareness of AAWGT’s mission to make a difference in the lives of women and their families.
Through this collaboration, AAWGT is acquiring the use of thoughtful and compelling photographs to illustrate the people and programs we support through our grantmaking initiatives. AAWGT current and past grantees featured in the Sharing Our Vision project are Food Link, Partners in Care, Girl Scouts of Central Maryland, The Arc of the Central Chesapeake Region, Sarah’s House and Centro de Ayuda.
This project would not have been possible without the extraordinary leadership of AAWGT members Brenda Anderson; Bronwyn Belling; Kirsten Elstner, who is also the Executive Director of VisionWorkshops; Laurie Sharp; and Susan Walker. Funding for the project was provided by the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County, Inc.; Brenda Anderson; Bronwyn Belling; Martha Blaxall; the Morrell Family Foundation, a fund of the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County; Laurie Sharp; Maureen Torgerson; and the Greg and Susan Walker Family Foundation, a fund of the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County.
